Neighborhood Watch Meeting

Come join us to the neighborhood meeting at the Bell Community Center located at 6250 Pine Ave at 7pm on February 26, 2009.

Main topics will be officers giving a report on the recent burglaries and robberies & will answer any questions you would have.

I hope all candidates will be available at the meeting so that if you have any questions you can ask all of us at one location.

Incumbents Endorsement

Recently, Luis Artiga and Teresa Jacobo sent out campaign mailers, flyers, and they stated on their website that they are endorsed by the Bell Police Department. This is a false endorsement! The interim Chief of police and City Manager deny that the Bell Police Department or the Bell Police Association endorse any of the candidates.

If one officer endorses the incumbents, it doesn’t mean the whole department endorses them. Pictures in the mailers, which include Bell police officers are taken during community events and the incumbents are taking advantage of these pictures by posting them without the consent of the officers. These candidates are trying to fool our citizens. The incumbents should not be allowed to use the police department as the face of their campaign. Incumbents should discuss topics such as unnecessary spending using taxpayer’s money, public safety, and the future of our city.

A Positive Campaign

First, I’d like to promise every voter in this city and anyone else who is interested that our campaign will be clean and positive. I would ask the same of the opposition. It’s the least we can all do to respect the voters and the democratic process. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be how the opposition views things.

We will continue to run a positive campaign, focused on ideas, vision and leadership because that’s what Bell residents deserve. See you on the campaign trail!

We have been so humbled by the outpouring of support from the citizens of the city who have encouraged us to take on this challenge. It’s truly been an honor.

We’ve spent the last several weeks talking to people across the city. What we’ve heard is that people want change. And they want it now. We need a different kind of leadership to bring this change about. As Councilman’s, we will bring residents together around a vision for the city.

Many people have asked us about our leadership style and what they might be able to expect from us as Councilman’s. We are incredibly passionate people and we bring a sense of energy, excitement and urgency to everything we do. You can expect very bold, decisive and innovative action from us. We like to be generative of new ideas and encourage out of the box thinking to solve problems. Also, our commitment is to be very accessible. We believe that as Councilman’s, we are public servant. To serve residents well, we need to be very close to and aware of the problems, ideas and issues that residents are having.

As Councilman’s, We’ll ensure our neighborhoods will be places that our citizen love living in. Our streets and public schools will be safe for everyone. Bell can be a world class city that serves as a model for other cities with a vitality that makes all of its residents proud to call it home. Please join us in standing up for our city!
